What are the stay options?

Digital-nomad / workation status (F-1-D)

The Ministry of Justice made the programme permanent from 30 June 2026 and raised the maximum stay to three years. Income requirements now vary with age and destination.

The route described here is background information, not confirmation that an individual applicant qualifies. Check the official requirements for your circumstances.

Stay-route details & sources

Source-check date recorded in the country data: 2026-09-17.

  • The attached framework describes one year initially, with annual extensions up to the three-year maximum. It concerns overseas-company remote workers with at least one year in the same industry.
  • The published income range is one to two times the previous year’s national income per person. The notice gives the example of an applicant aged 18–34 outside the capital region qualifying for the one-times threshold.
  • Maximum duration is not automatic approval. Use the current age, location and family criteria rather than an old single-income figure.

This reference describes the main US cash-market session, not the complete futures trading schedule.

What this guide covers

A researched starting point, not a final rating.

Additional starter guides with source-backed stay and workspace notes. These are not final destination rankings or individual eligibility decisions.

Remote-work routes are not automatically available to someone whose income comes only from personal investing or prop-firm rewards. The reviewed requirements concern qualifying work, contracts or businesses. Individual eligibility must be established separately.

Only the information in this starter guide was checked on . This does not refresh older guides or confirm any applicant’s eligibility.

Income & family conditions

The destination and accompanying family can change the threshold.

Page 3 differentiates capital-region and other designated locations: ages 18–34 use 1.5× / 1×, and ages 35+ use 2× / 1.5× of prior-year income per person. Accompanying family changes this to 2× / 1.5× regardless of age.

Before choosing a base

Questions that remain personal or property-specific.

The questions below are editorial planning prompts, not requirements attributed to a government or tested property advice.

  • Which age, destination and accompanying-family income tier applies?
  • Does the evidence establish the required overseas work relationship?
  • Does the insurance cover the whole intended stay and repatriation?
  • Does the workspace access window include every hour needed, including the overnight cutoff?

No affordability, connection reliability, medical-quality, safety or provider-access score has been assigned for these countries. Missing evidence is not a zero score and not permission to use a service.

No provider-by-country clearance is published for these new guides. Rules about nationality, residence, visits and account stages require separate provider-specific evidence.
