What are the stay options?

Nomad Residence Permit

Malta’s programme is for qualifying third-country adults working for a foreign employer, company or overseas clients. New applicants must satisfy the published EUR 42,000 gross annual income requirement.

The route described here is background information, not confirmation that an individual applicant qualifies. Check the official requirements for your circumstances.

  • The FAQ describes a one-year permit, renewable subject to conditions for up to four years in total. Renewal also requires at least five months of cumulative presence during the preceding permit year.

When does the US session fall locally?

Usually 15:30–22:00 local time; 14:30–21:00 during the illustrated Europe/US clock-change gaps.

Calculated examples use New York’s regular cash-session reference and the listed time zone. Local clocks change on different dates. Holidays, early closes and the broader futures schedule are not represented.

This reference describes the main US cash-market session, not the complete futures trading schedule.

What this guide covers

A researched starting point, not a final rating.

Additional starter guides with source-backed stay and workspace notes. These are not final destination rankings or individual eligibility decisions.

Remote-work routes are not automatically available to someone whose income comes only from personal investing or prop-firm rewards. The reviewed requirements concern qualifying work, contracts or businesses. Individual eligibility must be established separately.

Only the information in this starter guide was checked on . This does not refresh older guides or confirm any applicant’s eligibility.

Healthcare & insurance

Ordinary travel insurance is not enough for this permit.

Residency Malta requires a qualifying health policy rather than ordinary travel insurance. Its guidance calls for a fully paid year of coverage valid in the EU, including Malta, and the UK.

Workspace example

SOHO Malta distinguishes desk products.

SOHO advertises 24-hour access for dedicated desks. Hot-desking is limited to reception hours, stated as Monday–Friday 08:30–17:30.

Taxes & longer stays

A permit is not a tax exemption.

The programme FAQ refers applicants to tax obligations and the applicable nomad rules. This profile does not estimate an individual tax bill or assign a tax-simplicity score.

Before choosing a base

Questions that remain personal or property-specific.

The questions below are editorial planning prompts, not requirements attributed to a government or tested property advice.

  • Does the income category meet the programme’s foreign-work requirement?
  • Will the insurance certificate satisfy the programme, not merely a short trip?
  • Are desk access and building services available at the needed time?

No affordability, connection reliability, medical-quality, safety or provider-access score has been assigned for these countries. Missing evidence is not a zero score and not permission to use a service.

No provider-by-country clearance is published for these new guides. Rules about nationality, residence, visits and account stages require separate provider-specific evidence.
